Faith in humanity restored!

I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.

-William Penn

So I go out, get in the car and drive into town!

First time in over a year! I hate going into the city. It sucks! It sucks bad.

The presence of so many self important blithering idiots just rubs my rhubarb!

So I'm in town to get my eyes tested. I get to the Optometrist and realise I don't have my wallet on me.

No problem. The wonders of modern technology, I did have my phone. Paying with NFC (Near Field Communication, some people call it contactless payments) is a thing! Good to go.

Until I went to pay for parking.

The parking garage is underground, no signal. My phone requires a signal to verify the payment point before it does the thing!

I couldn't pay.

So I track down the attendant, super nice guy. Has no clue what to do. So he calls his supervisor.

This is where I lost my shit

This guy clearly didn't give a shit. Offered no help whatso ever and wasn't going to let my car out of this under ground hell until I paid my £1.

Yeah, a fucking pound. ONE!

While I'm screaming at the guy, telling him there has to be another method of paying this...

A nice woman comes over and says "I'll pay it!".

I was gob smacked.

She took the ticket, shoved it in and in 5 seconds swipped her phone over the sensor and it ejected the ticket and she handed it to me.

I thanked her.

Still talking to her I looked at the useless manager..."if only everyone was that kind and considerate"!

And she was off!

Don't know her name, no idea how to repay her.

But it reminded me of something a very good friend of mine used to say.

"One random act of kindness a day, and the world will change overnight"

Man was he right!

Oh, and if your the guy who demanded his one pound. The world is a wheel, it all comes around!
